  • 5. The Research

Researching is an important part of the game, which allows you to be able to start producing units. You won't be able to produce any unit without researching it first.
The research tab is located in the upper left corner, under the flag and next to the diplomacy tab.
It consists of five different branches - Infantry, Armor, Air, Naval and Secret. Right under their names, you will see Day - which shows you the day when certain units will be avaiable for research.

Current Research - shows what units you are researching right now, the time the research will be finished at, as well as a percentage on their researching progress.
Tech information - gives you the ability to see duration of the research, costs, it shows the day from when the unit is avaiable to be researched and other units that can be unlocked by researching this unit.

To start researching a unit, you select it and use the "Start researching" button on the right, (tech information). In order to be able to start researching a unit, you have to pay for the costs - which depend on the unit and can be seen right under the "Start researching" button.

The orange dot on the units image means that the unit can be researched, the blue one means the unit is currently being researched, green means the unit is already researched and grey means the unit is not avaiable for research yet.

By selecting the unit, on Tech Information you will see an i, clicking on it will give you all the info for the unit, such as speed in different territories, damage when attacking/defending, daily upkeep, production time and a nice advice on how to use them.

Infantry - Allows you to research militia and infantry, motorized and mechanized infantry, as well as upgrading them.

You will be able to research militia and infantry on the first day - militia takes 20 minutes to be researched while infantry only 1 minute and 30 seconds. By upgrading infantry to level 2, you will be able to start researching motorized infantry starting from day 12. Mechanized Infantry can be researched from day 24, and it requires level 2 motorized infantry.

Armor - Allows you to research seven different units, as well as upgrading them. Units on the armor branch consist of three different types of tanks (Light, Medium and Heavy), Armoured cars, Artillery, Anti-air and anti-tank. By researching armoured car you will be able to start researching light tank, which gives you the ability to start researching Medium tank. Heavy tank can be unlocked by researching level 2 medium tank, and is avaiable to be researched at day 24. Artillery is required to be able to start researching Railroadgun (secret), while anti-air requires interceptor (air) to have been researched and anti-tank requires only the research of Light tank.

Air - allows you the researching of 4 types of planes - Interceptor, Tactical, Strategic, and Naval bombers. Interceptor and Tactical bombers can be researched from day one. In order to be able to start researching Strategic and Naval bombers, the research of Tactical bomber is a must.

Naval - Allows you to research 4 different types of units - submarines, destroyers, cruisers and battleships. The first three can be researched from day 1.

Secret - Allows you to research nuclear units, nuclear power, Atomic bomb, rockets & rocket interceptor, railroadguns and commandos. By researching rocket level 4 you will have unlocked the Nuclear Rocket, Nuclear power allows the research of Atomic Power, which, when researched, gives you the ability to start researching Nuclear Bombers. Nuclear Power, when researched makes it possible for Nuclear submarine and Nuclear battleship to be researched.
