Thought the idea of the Alliance leaders having the ability to create an alert message to alliance members so that they will see it when they go into any game. I know they have a chat channel but not everyone even looks at it. This would be something similar to the little icons on the map like in the tutorial that tell you to do things. This would come in handy when you are together in specific games and need to quickly try and get everyone's attention to a specific issue or problem in a game.
