    • OFFICIAL COLD WAR ROLE-PLAY

We will have a Youtube Series on this.

      Description

It is April 1st, 1950. In Europe, the Western Allies and the Soviet Union, once allies, are in a standoff which will decide the death of the world, or the everlasting peace. Germany, a nation which had once brought the world on its knees, is now divided into two countries, as well as its capital, Berlin.

On one side, we have NATO, the US, West Berlin and West Germany and on the other, we have the Warsaw Pact, East Berlin and East Germany. In Asia the communist North Korea is readying to unite the nation of Korea into one. The capitalist South Korea has no intent of going to war with their northern neighbours but may be forced into it very soon.

In London, the British worry ever more about Stalin’s power, and thus have set up an Operation which would lead to total war with Stalin. This is a plan which many have called to radical, but in the matter of total war, they are ready to use it if and and when needed.

The theory of the domino effect has led Truman to begin sending aid to the South Koreans as the looming threat of the North builds up even further. Washington eyes the Korean Peninsula like a hawk waiting for the first shot to be fired. Douglas MacArthur, a hero of the Second World War, is confident he will throw back the communist advance if he needed to.

In Paris, word of the war in Vietnam grow, and the fear of the French losing its main Asian colony has almost come true. As the Communist party in Vietnam has nearly taken back half of the country, and looks to keep on going until all of Indochina is under the communist banner.

Technologically, the US pushes its nuclear techniques and equipment faster and faster. Already America has more than 250 bombs which greatly outnumber the Soviets’, but the Russians have started their Nuclear testing and manufacturing lines, and soon, both nations will have equal numbers of warheads and nuclear bombs, and both will have the power to destroy the world.

The split between East and West has never before been this stark. The leaders of both the Eastern and Western blocs need to compromise where they can and where they can’t, they shouldn’t. The world itself is at stake. All it needs is a match to burn the world.

      Rules

      1. No Gold, and if you use it by accident, talk to us and we will figure out what to do (better you tell us then us finding out).
      2. Zero trolling, you troll, you are removed.
      3. The two Admins can and will get rid of you if we see you as acting up, or causing a massive mess of the RP.
      4. Make realistic decisions in the roleplay. Meaning no Communist and Democratic nation being allies.
      5. Keep NATO and the Warsaw Pact together. No one is allowed to leave when they are the starting members, (with the exception of the USA or France if the admin gives a go-ahead), until the Cold War is over. (the admin will say when it is over)
      6. Post as frequently as possible.
      7. Always use as good grammar as you can.
      8. As much as you can, try to avoid WWIII in the first few days of the RP. No one wants to see the Soviets and Americans at war in 10 years game time. That doesn’t mean you can’t threaten it, just try to avoid it.

      Special Rules

      1. There are five major nations: US, UK, France, USSR, and China.
      2. Each nuclear nation can build a nuke after timed events.

      • USA and USSR - Can build nukes from the start of the game
      • UK can build nukes in 1952
      • France can build nukes in 1960
      • China can build nukes in 1964
      • Israel can build nukes in 1967
      • India can build nukes in 1974
      • South Africa can make nukes in 1980 (Israel and South Africa must have good relations from when Israel gained the bomb, and South Africa must still have the partite government)
      • Pakistan can build nukes in 1998 (China and Pakistan must have good relations throughout the RP to do this)
      3. To make sure everyone does run around with nukes threatening to blow up the world, there is no trading anything nuclear at all.
      4. To make sure when WWIII does happen the RP doesn't end in a total fire, any power with nuclear capabilities must nuke only provinces with over three VPs.
      6. Now, many may not know, but China and the USSR weren’t much of friends after Stalin died. After Stalin dies, which must happen before 1957, China and the Soviet Union must break ties. Every once in awhile, China or the USSR can enter each other’s provinces on the border but they may not take a province unless they want to start a full war. They may only go on the roads leading to the cities, but they may not capture the city itself.
      7. All Democratic nations, and some Communist ones if you want, must have general elections every four years to simplify things.

      Korean War

We start the role-play as Korean War is heating up. Any major nation can get involved, as well as the United Nations. If the UN gets involved, the Soviets can not veto the action to intervene since they were not present at the meeting. No nation is to take land for themselves in this war unless they are North or South Korea. In the event of one beating the other in a single war, the defeated nation is allowed to station troops in either the United States or the Soviet Union until it is time for a rebellion to begin.

      Decolonisation

Decolonisation was something took place from the end of World War II and ended with Hong Kong being returned to the Chinese in the 1990s. As time goes on, the colonies of each major nation can break away from the motherland and then become its own state, either by planned events or by negotiation. I’ll let you guys pick if you want negotiation or planned events.

      Time Rules

-Every day in real life equals six months game time.
-The role-play ends either when the Cold War is declared over by the admin or when Day 150 hits (assuming it doesn’t absolutely break up).

    • Name of country you wish to play as: Greece

Name of the leader of your country in 1950: King Paul of Greece/Alexandros Diomidis

Have you read all of the rules for this role-play? Yep.

Do you agree to follow all of the rules for this role-play? Yes.

Do you agree to be respectful to the people in this role-play and the admins running it? Yes.

Will you play in this role-play as often if you can? Yep.

Role-play Example (At least two paragraphs):

Communism becoming hugely popular with the Greek people
Recent polls Athens have shown that public opinion on the Greek Communists has greatly improved. Just one year after the savage civil war between pro-Communists and the democratic Government ended, the people of Greece are still trying to get justice for the Communist soldiers who were executed without trial AFTER a treaty had been signed to end the war. It has become apparent to the average Greek that the aim of the allies is to paint the USSR as savages and as the aggressor in all situations. The British invasion of Greece in 1944 showed that the allies aren't always in the right, as they attempted to liberate a country that didn't need to be liberated. The Greek people were fine with Communism, a Soviet liberation would of been much more welcomed. As things become increasingly unstable in Greece, we wonder if the people will take a stand and take back their lives, instead of being puppets for the allies.

      Construction & Production
As the Greek civil war came to a close, many civilians had lost their homes, families and sources of income. People no longer had their jobs or their farms. Local farming has allowed he construction of homes to commence in rural areas of Greece. Factories have been built all over the country giving the unemployed Greeks a chance to earn money once again. The production of military equipment may begin in the coming years, but the government has said mainly farming and transport equipment is being built. The government will also be hiring 13,000 people to help rebuild roads and bridges all across Greece. A new, stronger Greece will soon be born out of the ashes of war.

(Tired as heck writing this, will go over it in the morning.)

      ROLEPLAY EXAMPLE:

      Nikita Khrushchev ashamed at Hungary:
After a swiftly quelled rebellion in Hungary, Nikita Khrushchev shows deep shame in Hungary. :fluch:
"I THOUGHT I COULD TRUST YOU, HUNGARY. I THOUGHT YOU WOULD PROVE A LOYAL COMPANION OF THE USSR. BUT YET, I SEE HERE, YOU CLEARLY HAVE NO RESPECT. WE TRY TO MAKE THINGS BETTER FOR YOU, AND YOU REBEL? NOT ONLY THAT, BUT EVEN AFTER YOUR DEMANDS WERE MET, YOU WERE STILL ANGRY."
"This behavior is unacceptable. I think this deserves for a little punishment, agreed? you don't disrespect us."
      As said from Nikita Khrushchev.

USSR DENOUNCES N.A.T.O AND WEST GERMANY:

With recent actions behind N.A.T.O, as well as actions taken by West Germany, USSR responds with the Warsaw Pact. This legitimizes the presence of USSR military units in members of the pact. They assure that this is for defense reasons, just as N.A.T.O stated with its military activity in Western Germany.

Well, I hope I'm accepted, or it's going to be another stop on the long road to a good roleplay. :tumbleweed:
P.S: I actually spend the time to watch as many documentaries and read books about the nations I play as, to get a realistic idea of how it runs.

Role-play Example (At least two paragraphs):

The nukes fell and everyone got hit. The country that once controlled the pacific and had taken an entire region hostage had a bad day. The American troops marched through the streets. Except the Emperor realized they were not the enemy. A real enemy was waiting. About to end an entire way of life. Unless it was stopped. We realized the Americans could not hold the line alone. In silence the soldiers who had thought it was all over in 1945 put on their uniforms and grabbed their rifles. The night was over, and the sun was rising.

If Korea fell, Japan was next. This was an accepted fact. Korea must not fall. The Mongolians were stopped by a miracle. It is understood we can not rely on another one. Many will fall, but in the end Korea is the gateway to Japan. Thousands of soldiers must be sent. Hundreds of aircraft. No matter the cost. Korea must not fall.

and left him in jail to think the next time he tries betraying the cause...if there were a next time.

      The Cuban Missile Crisis

How our allies in Moscow have not supported us as they cowardly back off from the capitalist giant known as the United States, the same country that invaded its revolutionary brother Mexico for more land that wasn't needed! I tell you all that today we wont get our missiles but in exchange we will be sworn enemies of the United States as we will not bow there knees to them and we shall help every communist coup out there!

    • Name of country you wish to play as: West Germany

Name of the leader of your country in 1950: Konrad Adenauer

Have you read all of the rules for this role-play? Yep.

Do you agree to follow all of the rules for this role-play? Yes.

Do you agree to be respectful to the people in this role-play and the admins running it? Yes.

Will you play in this role-play as often if you can? Yep.

Role-play Example (At least two paragraphs):

"Adeneuer at, at his round table, with the defense minister sitting adjutant to him, the American military adviser and man responsible for all American involvement in West Germany, and central European affairs. Adeneuer looked anxiously at President Heusse, who advocated full action against the atrocity of the East Germans. A building, a hotel, bombed, by East German Stasi forces. A man, known as Rudolf Olly, a Bonn-born East German citizen, was head suspect. Caught leaving the scene, only a few moments after the bombing, with a pistol, false documents, de-coding books, as well as traces of C4 on his hands. He was traced back to the Stasi. The bombing, although minute, was signal to an even larger event. An event, that would yet again trigger the destruction of Europe. War. Over 2 million East German soldiers were on the West German border, with only 240,000 West German soldiers at the border. An invasion, wasn't unexpected. T-52 and T-55 Tanks, 10s of regiments of artillery, long range bombers stationed at numerous air bases mere miles away from the border, the Americans weren't speculating on fantasy. American general, John Hugent, was advised by his superiors to fulfill a hard-line policy against the Soviets of the East, Russia and Germany, but one that would lead in peace.

Meanwhile, Heinz, an West German citizen, who enrolled in the Federal Armed forces 2 years prior, at the rank of corporal, is tired of drills. Ever increasing, ever tiring, ever boring. He turns to his good friend, Peter, and says "Warum tun wir das? Warum? Es ist mudlich, und dull". Meaning, why do we do this, its boring, and stupid. After being moved constantly, and not able to visit home, or his friends, it does get to him. The General of his base, in Weisenburg, states that soldier's ultimate loyalty to the State, is unquestionable. The General, Ludwig Fernstadt, a former Wehrmacht general, is known for his tremendous bravery. Being part of the Battle of Berlin, and numerous battles on the Eastern front, to be put as a base commander hits him hard. Harder than he'd like to admit it. Still, his relationship to Heinz, is interesting. The two, both gone through world war 2, both seen the change in the country, from an extreme dictatorship, to a democracy, one that was not seen since 1933. Their relationship increases, when Heinz, a West German, becomes East German by loyalty.

      Disaster at Araracuara
The colonial expeditions into the depths of the unexplored lands when huge bands of tens of thousands of native warriors swarmed out of the hills and driving the Marines far out of the waypaths and deep into the hills, constantly under attack from the enemy. The local guides had led them far astray from the intended target of Bogota and into a trap.

Several weeks rage in constant skirmishes and battles wearing down the men of the Colonial Marines, as they desperately try to break through and forge a path towards their bases that are now further and further to the west.

In a last ditch attempt, Captain Maron of the Colonial Cavalry gathers his forces into one fastmoving wedge to punch a hole in the native lines during one of the rare pitched battles to try hasten a breakthrough, but to no avail. He dies with a spear through the chest and a fifth of his contingents shattered.

Major Terriere doggedly holds his positions as he and his musketeers run out of ammunition, being forced to resort to their bayonets as the natives charge their hastily constructed wooden barricade. His body is found several days later, buried under a dozen natives.

Private Jacques Bonet, cut off from the main body of the army, his platoon lying dead and dying races with the regimental colours as hard and fast as his legs can carry him. Honour must be preserved at any cost in blood, and the loss of the colours will strike a heavy blow to morale.
A headless body is found pinned by spears to a rotten jungle tree. Commander Trevleu recovers the Regimental colours which had been secreted within, and salutes the unknown soldier for his courage and selflessness in saving the honour of his unit.

These scenes of grim determination and selfless heroism play out throughout the hills and battlefields of the Pacific colonies as the longrunning battle rages on.
