    • The search of the lost map

      Greetings Generals,

We believe that all the maps provide diversity to the game. These different maps allow us to see and play in different scenarios, fight different enemies in different places, a whole new strategy to follow in each map. That's why we need you now!
We know that the amount of possible WWII scenarios or related events can reach to create a new map, where all the community could have fun playing.

We are thinking of different possible scenarios that could be very interesting to play with an individual, team or role approach, but, we would like to hear your proposals and ideas.

On Thursday July 21st 2016, we will open a poll with the differents scenarios that have arisen in the different Call of War communities and then see the most voted(favoured) scenario/idea. That map will be made by the Support Team and sent to Bytro for its analysis and its possible introduction to the game.

To offer your idea, you must post it here, so it will be visible for the rest of the players. Because we think there will be many ideas and proposals and taking in count that polls can just have 20 options, we will use an external website to make the poll and thus also will collect all the votes in a same place and will be easier for all of us to follow the results of the poll.

We hope you are as excited as we are with this project.

Let your imagination flow like your knowledge about history and surprise us with your ideas.

      Your Call of War Team.

    • What about Cold-war? West and East Germany, North and South Korea, you can split the U.S.S.R into the Soviet Republics as well to prevent it from being too powerful. China could be split up by regions again and the United States by States. But smaller countries could be historically correct like North/South Korea, North/South Vietnam, Rebel/Soviet Afghanistan?
    • Maybe the Netherlands will finally be playable then, if that means the Indo colonies are included.

Say 5-7 provinces in Europe (Amsterdam, Den Haag, Utrecht, Maastricht, Groningen....or maybe even the islands as a province), and the rest in Asia, all cores though (or else too unbalanced compared to others, as morale will be a huge issue anyway)

In which scenario you mean, Europe year...?

Sounds fun, a small country with large provinces overseas.

    • Make it fictional...Netherlands with Belgium added as part of core.
It seemed like such a waste to destroy an entire battle station just to eliminate one man. But Charlie knew that it was the only way to ensure the absolute and total destruction of Quasi-duck, once and for all.

    • I would create the classic 2 coalitions, the Axis and the Allies

You can vary the start date. Suggestions are primary for historical
orientated play, for fixed and fair play i suggest other approach.

      1939 Start of ww2
1941 December, Japans joins war - Axis slight advantage
      1942 Equalized scenario, both coalition
      1944 Allies slight advantage

      and adjust techology levels accordingly.

      Coalition : The AXIS
Mayor powers : Japan, Germany, Italy
Allies : Rumania, Burma, Finland, Vichy-France (optional)
Affiliates : Spain, Argentina, Italian East Africa

      Coalition : The Allies
Mayor powers : United Kingdom, Russia and the U.S.A
Allies : Canada, Australia, India, France (optional)
      Affiliates : Brazilia, South-Africa, Greece

A simplified world map would be wise.
*Greatest territories given to mayor powers for historical games
*Or an equal distribution in the optional fair start game.

      Options
*in historical simulation, the cities of mayor powers have more VP then those of
allies affiliaties , and their capitals are the real big prizes!
*You can also set victory conditions like taking all enemy mayor capitals

      Players: minimal 6, maximal 20

      Reward system :
in the historical campaign, mayor powers have the edge, so it wouldnt be fair to other players, unless you give all players of the winning team the same prize. In a game with a slight advantage, prizes are lower for the favoured party and higher for the underdog - if they succes to beat the odds!
In fair game, winning team gains a basic reward, and the individual players with the biggest gains, an extra bonus.
    • I'd like to see a more fictionalized WWII....A donut world...with no poles. The north and south edges of map connect to each other. The picture below shows an idea of how a donut world exists. But, to make the map more interesting, the whole map could be scrolled north or south about half-way to put the conjoined Arctic/Antarctic Ocean in the middle of the map stretching east/west to make the world appear more divided north/south.

This donut world is also called a "Torus World".

Another map idea (more realistic) would be to add a Polar Projection Map (sorry Australia...NORTH pole).

Euro-centrists should love this map and USA and Russia should be broken up for a 100 player map. Also, a blitz version with united USA and united USSR (and others united, like Aussies) would be a fun 40 or 50 player map, I would think. Also, Germany can be center of the world on either map, so they could call the Blitz version, the "Bytro Map".

This sample map (above) is actually free to use (I think) from d-maps.com and could be a base starting point for the graphic artists to rebuild the map shape (they can keep most of the provincial data, just need to redraw the graphics). Australia would actually get MUCH bigger but have to have wider provinces to be fair. Meanwhile, Siberian and Canadian northern provinces would necessarily get smaller.

The best optional benefit of THIS map is that Bytro could implement seasonal Ice that grows and retracts over the weeks (or months) of play (allowing for shifting navies AND to find a way to "cross" the ice with convoyed land and air forces while the navies sail around the ice. Submarines would need to be allowed to travel UNDER the ice. And maybe some of the center ice could be treated as permanent land that can be occupied to setup airbases.

Or, they could choose a simpler development path by making the ice fixed (no cycling). But they would need to make it summer-fixed so that navies can easily go around. And convoys/airbases can be on the ice. But, the ice control points would operate more like sea-points so that they can't be owned, only occupied (no defensive bonus, no forts allowed). While land forces might be convoyed while traveling on ice (maybe they don't need to be convoys), they would and should be allowed to fight as normal land units in combat.

Airfields must be allowed but forts would make little sense since the ice can't support the weight and there's no local building materials. An airbase would need to be cheap to build (only fair since ice is assumed to be perfectly flat (forget reality, folks). But an airbase can't be captured, only destroyed. Land forces would need to receive no terrain advantages/disadvantages on ice. They would have only basic offensive/defensive ratings counted.

Also, Nukes and rockets should be allowed to blow up the ice (and no land units targeted in a strike can survive because they are sunk) making a hole in the ice (similar to craters) But, the logical paths would convert to sea for purposes of convoys (they have to leave the ice, go for a swim across the ice, then climb back up...not realistic to convoy "ships". That can be debated.

Also, while a successful Nuke Bomber would have the effect of making a giant crater like the Nuke Missile, it can still be shot down thus potentially avoiding the possibility of a single Nuke Bomber sinking an army of 100 Heavy Tanks. However, while rockets SHOULD be allowed to make holes in the ice, they should be smaller holes. Actually, 100 Heavy Tanks would sink on their own, so maybe an aircraft carrier-styled rule limiting army size can occupy a control point or travel together at any one time. Perhaps limit all forces to a maximum of 20 units.

These "nuke holes" -- if over a control point -- would necessarily convert the control point from ice point to sea point for purposes of navigation. Also, ships would be able to travel through linked nuke holes if they open out to sea. Also, subs would be able to surface in nuke holes even if they aren't open to the sea (i.e., isolated nuke holes). Though later era subs could break through the ice, it is unrealistic for WWII subs to do so, I think, so let's not add that idea.

      ******************************************************************************************************

They could also make a smaller -- northern hemisphere polar projection map -- 30-40 player-sized map like this with no scrolling map edges (really sorry, Aussies). To make it really interesting, make the map round, too, with no giant corners (and still no connecting map edges):

      ******************************************************************************************************

This could be a way to do a smaller 22 player map without connecting edges (would need more USA, China, Europe) And this could be more fictional (i.e., no ice):

      ******************************************************************************************************

Here's another Polar Projection Map. This one could have the round map (no corners) style implemented. Again, I think that would be fun.
