How to make peace with an AI player?

Thanks, Nemitur. I flipped the relationship switch to "peace" about 30 hours ago in the hope that the AI would eventually act on it. It's not an elite AI, so I'm hoping it's only a matter of hours. Does the AI typically accept the proposed peace at the time of the daily updates?
It takes around 3 days, I think. If there are no further attacks.
The past is a foreign country.
    • Thanks, Pablo. I also had some troops within the AI's provinces, which I removed at the same time as I flipped the relationship toggle to "peace". Normally, I would occupy the remaining AI provinces, but in this case an absent human player with whom the previous human player of the now-AI player's country had/has a right of way has occupied the last half dozen provincial cities, but without conquering them, by virtue of the ROW. None of the remaining provinces are core provinces of the now-AI country, and the country is suffering a slow meltdown for lack of sufficient food to feed its population. At this stage, I don't care who gets the remaining provinces, I just need to end the war so my country can move onto its next (mis)adventure.
    • Another thing that I've seen, and this can be tricky, is to go inactive in your game for just a day or two and let the AI take over. For some reason diplomacies between AI's work out much faster than between AI and human. I found this out the hard way by being gone from a game for a few days. I was at war with 5 different countries but when I cam back the AI made peace with every single one of them even though I was still halfway through their countries.

    • I appreciate the advice, Gator, but it would be beyond tricky in my present game. I'm the game leader with 500+ points, but I am faced by an odd alliance of three. The only things holding them back are one of them wants to finish at least second for his stats and game gold, and I do have the largest army on the planet, the biggest economy and nuclear weapons. If they had any sense they would leave me alone, but one of them is crazy as a betsy bug and keeps attacking me and trying to ship unescorted units across the Atlantic -- he's lost over 150 units against mine, including over 60 on the Atlantic crossing. It was like the massacre of the baby sea turtles after a mass daytime hatching. Horrible to watch, but the guy does have a tenacity like Monty Python's Black Knight ("It's only a flesh wound!").
