I'm not Irish and I don't speak Irish. But I think this is a good idea. Let them have their own Gaelic forum among the English server's main forum. This could spark quite an interesting study into struggling adherents to cultural adhesiveness which can spur an intellectually biased -- but-well-attempted -- language achievement among those that strive towards their own and separate cultural identity.

Just don't see the point in this when you can all speak English? Seems like a waste of time.

Well, to be fair, the Irish were savages at the time. But then again, so was most of Europe during the dark ages.

As the pagan barbarian hordes -- the savages -- surrounded the dwindling and stale Roman empire -- they beat the Romans down, over and over, plunging Europe into the Dark Ages of religious ignorance. That non-civilized pagan ignorance swept over the continent like a cold and wet blanket.

Although small pockets of the Church and civilization were preserved here and there, the whole of Europe was plunged into the Dark Ages. Over time, wherever the Church was able to Christianize the local populous, the people were slowly but surely brought out of the dark and into the light thus European humanity started to grow once again. Unfortunately, it suffered a major set-back with the Black Death, but the plague was caused by a resurgence of ignorance by non-believing barbarians from the far east.

Now, this isn't to say that barbarian and pagan people are in any other way inferior to Christians, of course. Actually, some "barbarians" technically can be Christians and yet not be civilized. However, usually when a barbarian becomes a Christian, they tend to put aside their barbarian ways. In fact, the only real difference between a pagan and a Christian is that a Christian has become saved from the penalty of sin -- which is death -- by putting their faith in Jesus Christ.

But, with that newfound salvation, comes access to a wealth of superior ancient knowledge found in the Bible -- much of which dates all the way back to the time of Moses and some back even to the fathers of Israel; and some few even all the way back to Noah and earlier -- over 4400 years ago!

Now, when a society has adopted a faith in God, they then -- by faith -- become willing to accept the validity of the Word of God in the Bible and thus they gain a newfound access to the incredible fountain of knowledge found in the scriptures.

Among such a specially-preserved wealth of knowledge includes carefully laid-out rules and keen understanding on: security, safety, cleanliness and sanitation, medicine, food preservation, agriculture, animal husbandry, astronomy, mathematics, chemistry, history, law and justice, battle tactics, atmospheric science, geology, religious ceremony, politics and government, music, poetry, art, literature, human sexuality, diplomacy, and banking and economics.

In fact, if America were to fully adopt Biblical law just in economics, we'd do so much better for ourselves than we are now under the blithe ignorance of the liberal democrats. For instance, if we were to put aside the 80,000+ page federal tax code and replace it with the Bible, our faltering finances would grow by leaps and bounds. Our indebtedness would dwindle to nothing and all poverty would be wiped out...and all of this in a matter of only a couple years at most!

So, don't feel bad that you were once savage barbarians. All of humanity would be savage if not for the Christian faith and the influence of the Word of God.

Guys, there are a lot of Irish folk. In the past we have been dubed " Is that Wales?" And "more UK" and many more..

Actually, the Romans were Christianized under Emperor Constantine. Unfortunately for the average Roman citizen living abroad, hundreds of years after Constantine adopted Christianity, there was a general lack of brutality that their earlier Roman ancestors exercised to gain the lands that they then occupied. This lack of strength saw the eventual collapse of Rome. Thus the Christians, who were actually still a minority within the empire, saw their world begin to collapse around them.

Many Christians retreated back to the core Roman cities and some eventually learned to adapt to the surrounding barbarian ways of life. Eventually, some Christians must have abandoned the faith when enslaved by the barbarians. But some few would have managed to influence their captors...perhaps even to the effect of evangelizing a handful of barbarians. However, except for those small pockets of Christian civilization that survived the barbarian raids, the western half of that once-majestic Roman Empire collapsed completely.

Eventually, the Papacy was able to rally the populous and re-evangelize their surrounding lands. However, due to the large influences of pagan barbarians, many in the Catholic priesthood acceded to mixing Christian customs with paganism...so much so that much of the Catholic Church found decadence for the Papal oligarchy preferable to following the strict standards that were set in the Bible. That is where ideas of the indulgences and other false practices came in. In this, the Catholic Church actually contributed to the Dark Ages. However, they weren't the primary reason for it's existence.
