    My economics department chairman (and my MA thesis advisor) was a University of Chicago Ph.D., and graduated first in his Ph.D. class. His Ph.D. dissertation advisor was Dr. Friedman.

      Nope. University of Florida ---- we had an excellent economics faculty. Chicago arguably has the best economics faculty in the world. My department chairman tried to talk me into applying to the economics Ph.D. program at Chicago, but I completed my graduate education with a professional degree in another discipline. The math at that level of economics is really quite challenging.

      So cool. As you say, the University of Chicago is second-to-none in economics. If I can, I'm going to try and get in, although a couple of friends that are older than me have great grades and still got rejected anyway.

      Yeah, Captain Haddock from Tintin. I love the guy (in a non-homosexual way). One of my favourite comic characters.
