Top RolePlay was started in August, 2015 by a group of players that met in a random Roleplaying game. They had so much fun, that they decided to continue playing amongst each other. Below are some rulesets for how to interact in the round, and rules for just about everything. We hope to see you in our games!

Most guidelines we follow are outlined in The Don's Guide to Roleplaying

We do have a few things we prefer to see, however, as listed below.

Players should remain in character at all times, unless denoted before hand that you are out of roleplay momentarily. PM's can be more lax inn the formatting, but official corresponding between nations should remain in character. For example, a letter to Germany from Russia.




Articles should be posted as correspondences from reporters. Make up a name for your reporter and have fun. An official looking intro to the article could look something like this:




Below are a list of regulations for declaring war, and the process during and after a war.

1. Players must refrain from any act of aggression or embargo against any nation (AI of 40+ Victory Points or Player Controlled Territory) until Day 5 at minimum. Any acts of war or economic embargo before this period will result in the freedom of other nations to attack the offending country with no restrictions.
   
2. Acts of War must have a reason for the conflict. This can be made in a Newspaper Article describing the conflict.
   
3. If you have Right of Passage with a country, and you wish to cancel and wage war, you MUST give a 24-hour notice of the cancellation of rights before declaring war (via newspaper). This is to avoid any backstabbing on nations.
   
4. When planning to attack a Third World Country (AI controlled), write news articles at minimum an hour prior to declaring war. We want to see the reason behind you invading them. Are they rioting under their current government? Did their military cross borders and ambush your guards? Perhaps they called you a drudgemonkey. Explain the situation, and then take action. It's nice to see a couple of days notice before an invasion, so we can feel the suspense building.
   
5. Sanctions will be made on countries who do not officially declare war. If we see it, there is diplomatic or militaristic repercussions. We may embargo you. We may band together to liberate your country from your tyrannous rule. We could very well kick you from the game, even.
   
6. You can 'annex' a city peacefully. Write some news articles explaining the tension in a bordering city, write a quip about them wanting to join your nation. If that country agrees, it can be gifted, or you can invade that one territory and then you both call for peace. This is the desired way to get a city that holds food, of which you have a shortage.
