Secrete, Naval Unit Proposal-Naval artillery.

So, while I was reading John Hylton's thread about battle cruisers, I had an idea. What if we made a naval artillery, which would have a long range, low armor and could be used to bomb land units from the sea.

-level 3 naval base and level 1 industrial complex
-It would cost 2,000 Goods, 1,500 man power, 3,500 metal,1,000 oil and 3,500 money
-Build time would be 1 day 6 hours
-Reserchable from day 8
-Costs of research 5,000 goods, 5,000 rare materials,5,000 money
-There would be only one research level
-Up keep costs would be 80 food and 150 oil
-Attack rage would be either 100 km or 120km
-Speed 25 km/h
-Attack stats: 4 damage to infantry,4 damage to armored units,0 to areal units,2.5 to buildings,3 to naval units, no damage to submarine units.
-Defence stats:0.2 damage to areal units, 1 damage to naval units, 0.4 to submarine units.
-Health Points:25
-The purpose of the ship is to bomb the enemies from the the sea and would help kill troops behind the enemies lines of defence (assuming that they have borders with the sea).

I have based this unit type on the Railroadguns which have log range and good attack stats but cost a lot and are defenceless, so why not make a naval artillery. This unit would go to the Secret research folder and will be a naval, light armor class.

So just a big gun on a lightly armoured ship?

A big gun on a defencless ship. Should I change the HP and make them higher.

I like the idea - the only problem is that battleships are already used for this.

Yes but thir range is not as big as the railroadgun or the bomber and if a naval unit would have that, then it would come in handy.

Guided missiles began to replace naval artillery as more effective weapons against aircraft and ships in the mid-20th century. Naval artillery calibers greater than 5 inches (13 cm) were used primarily for naval gunfire support after 1944; and no new ships were built with larger naval artillery. Submarines shed deck guns as a handicap in modern naval tactics.
Destroyers and frigates carry a single gun of 3- to 5-inch calibre (76.2–127mm) as a backup to missile systems and capable of land fire support. Remaining roles of naval artillery like the 20mm Phalanx CIWS system are for short-range defence against targets which cannot be engaged by guided weapons systems. The US 5"/54 caliber Mark 45 gun is capable of firing 20 rounds per minute to a range of 20 miles.^{[citation needed]}

Nah, I don't like that. Subs are extremely powerful as is.

I suppose the guided missile destroyers could fill this role?
But really battleships do already fill this role in the game, although with only a 70km range (compared to the railgun's 120km range). But really nothing should have the range of a bomber that doesn't risk itself (bombers) or one use (rockets and nuclear armament)

If they allow the ability to use rockets from the decks of an aircraft carrier, then you'll have the unit you seem to want, without needing another unit to be developed.

I think we're getting coastal guns, the RRG have that capability somewhat, and the BB is doing great.

There is no real world equivalent, during WW2 Germany wanted to build Battleships with 18in, 20in, 22in guns and bigger, but these would have simply been Super Battleships. In truth there is nothing in history built with a gun bigger than 16in. Battleships fill this role and short of using weapons that didn't exist, a la Maus and Ratte, as was discussed before, i see little need for it.
